Open RQC colloquium. Lecture 49

The Forty Ninth lecture "Mobile impurities in one-dimensional superfluids" in Open RQC Colloquium will be held in National University of Science and Technology MISIS (Moscow, Leninsky Avenue, 4) conference hall № Б-534on 21th of December 2018 at 10:00 a.m by Dimitri Gangardt, Reader in Theoretical Physics in University of Birmingham.

Abstract

Mobile impurities immersed in interacting ultra cold gases interact strongly with the collective degrees of freedom of the host system. This can lead to interesting dynamical behaviour which is mostly pronounced when the host particles are confined to one spatial dimension. The lector will overview recent progress in the theoretical and experimental studies of mobile impurities in ultra cold 1D gases with an emphasis of recently observed Bloch Oscillations in the absence of lattice. There will be a discussion about the role of intergrability in the dissipative processes accompanying this spectacular dynamical effect.
